The Tate Gallery is forming partnerships with five regional venues in England, to increase public access to the national collection through exhibitions and displays. Last month the Heritage Lottery Fund made a £337,500 award towards the scheme. There was considerable competition from regional venues to participate and those finally selected were the Castle Museum in Norwich (which already has a partnership arrangement with the Tate), the Abbott Hall Art Gallery in Kendal, Sheffield Galleries & Museums Trust, the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery in Stoke-on-Trent and the New Art Gallery in Walsall. Details of the three-year scheme are due to be released later this month.
